UPDATE 9/24/24: PangoBooks has sunsetted our Priority Mail shipping option for orders of $100 and more. In its place, sellers can now offer additional package insurance for orders of $100 and more, allowing sellers more freedom in packaging sales, lowered costs on shipping for qualifying orders, and greater buyer satisfaction. Please see below for more details.
All orders on PangoBooks ship through USPS Media Mail, which offers low-cost shipping on books. For all orders, Pango provides up to $100 in insurance for packages, and for those packages of $100 and more, sellers can opt-in to purchase additional insurance for these sales. This is a great option for sellers who sell rare and collectible editions and for any seller who wants peace of mind on their high-dollar sales!
Opting In
In the PangoBooks app, select "Account" in the bottom right corner.
Select "My Shop Settings,” located under the “My Bookstore” header.
Select “My Shipping Options.”
You will be brought to a page that details all the program information. At the bottom of the screen, you will see a box to check to opt-in.
How It Works
Once opted-in to the program, any sale from your shop over $100 will have added insurance.
The additional insurance fee will be paid for by you as the seller from your earnings for the sale. If the order qualifies for the insurance markup but no free shipping is applied, then the buyer will pay the standard shipping rate and the additional insurance markup will come out of the seller's earnings. However, if you have a Free Shipping offer in your shop that the sale qualifies for, you as the seller will pay both for the Media Mail label and the additional insurance from your earnings.
This cost for the additional insurance is $1.09 per $100 of order value. For example, for a sale totaling $250, your additional cost is $3.27.
If you no longer want to offer additional insurance for sales of $100 and more, you can opt-out at any time from the “My Shop Settings.”
